Puff pastry Ventagli or Prussian, they are very delicious caramelized hearts.
These biscuits are very easy to prepare and quite cheap.
In fact the recipe consists of only three ingredients, puff pastry, sugar and a little water.
We use rectangular puff pastry, but if you want, you can also use round puff pastry.
The procedure is very simple, just cover both sides of the pastry with sugar.
Then roll it up, let it rest in the freezer and then slice it and put it in the oven.
Have fun preparing them with us, you will churn out perfect sweets for a snack.
Now get the recipe and turn on the oven!
How to prepare Puff pastry Ventagli:
We put some sugar on a sheet of parchment paper or on the work surface.
Now let’s lay the puff pastry on top.
We make the sugar adhere well, to help us in this operation we can pass the rolling pin.
Brush the other part of the puff pastry with a little warm water.
Sprinkle a little sugar and press with your hands or a rolling pin to make the sugar adhere also on this side.
Roll up the long sides of the pastry, first on one side then on the other side, until they line up in the center.
We gently move the roll obtained on a clean sheet of parchment paper, wrap it and place in the freezer for 20-30 minutes.
After this time, our roll will have the right consistency to be able to slice it easily, without risking crushing it.
With a smooth blade knife cut slices of about 2 cm thick.
Let’s place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them a little bit from each other because they will swell during cooking.
We bake in a preheated oven at 200° for about 10-12 minutes, or until the part that is in contact with the pan is caramelized.
At this point we turn all the fans and bake again for 3-4 minutes until they are golden on both sides.
Let it cool and start the tasting …
The fans keep crunchy for 2-3 days if we put them in a tin box or in an airtight container.
Anna’s advice:
If we want the biscuits to be covered with a super crunchy crust.
After slicing them, let’s roll them in sugar and then arrange them on the pan.
We can flavor the sugar with vanilla or cinnamon.
